Police moot introduces Talash Application
KARACHI: A one-day conference was held at the Sindh Police Museum Garden, Police Head Quarters on the theme “Reform Through Technology Oriented Policing (TOP)”. The event was collaboration between Falcon-i, Sindh Police and AFIGP.
Kaleem Imam, the Secretary General of the AFIGP, IP (Retd), commenced the program, while Ghulam Nabi Memon, the IGP of Sindh, PSP, attended as the Chief Guest. Saad Salman CEO Falcon-i presented an industry overview to the audience.
During the conference, the audience was introduced to technology initiatives, such as the Talash Application by DIGP IT Sindh Police Captain Pervaiz Ahmed Chandio.
Asim Iqbal Shaikh, Director of IT CPO Punjab Police, talked about the initiatives of the Punjab Police in the field of information technology (IT).
An informative talk on cyber threat intelligence was given by Asif Riaz, CEO of Arrays Digital. These presentations sparked discussions around the focal point of the conference: how to improve coordination, collaboration, & standardization of police departments, and across all spectrums of criminal and national databases using technology.
Khaliq-ur-Rehman Raazi, M.D. Head of the Computer Science Department (MAJU), identified a link between technology and Pakistan’s socio-cultural norms. Shafi Zubair Siddique, ADG FIA shared experiences of IT solutions that the FIA has embraced. Chief Technology Officer, Tariq Malik, discussed how they had implemented the Punjab Safe City Project.
The panelists suggested that a committee be established with a designated focal person to foster relationships between business and law enforcement organizations to facilitate industry- police collaboration.
Deliberations were also made on incubators which can be used to create software, test it, and develop real policy solutions with comprehensive vendor lists. These solutions could make use of predictive analysis and generate results that are simple to monitor.
The conference was attended by leading industry experts and eminent individuals from academia in the domain of technology, cyber security and surveillance
